Macher Paturi is Fish fillet cooked by wrapping in banana leaf. Fish pieces are marinated in a spiced mustard paste, wrapped in banana leaf individually and then slow cooked till tender. The word “Paturi” means leaf, in Bengali

I learnt this recipe from my maid after I came to Kolkata. This is one of the most popular and delectable side dish in West Bengal and I had this often during Durga puja lunch/dinner hosted in our complex so I had my maid teach me how to prepare this dish

This dish is quite tasty and healthy as the fish marinated in spices is steamed. This is often made during festive occasions/parties

  • Remove from steamer, discard the threads from the parcels
