Just because you are fasting, you need not forfeit your favorite dessert Kheer. Makhana is quite healthy and easy to digest. You can check the additional benefits of Makhana here. Now you needn’t be on fasting to enjoy this kheer, you can have it anytime you feel like having dessert. The additional benefit is you can always substitute regular rice in kheer with Phool Makhana

Hi Rekha – How interesting that phool makhana (lotus seeds?) are edible and something you can cook with. I live in Texas and I wonder if there is anywhere I can buy any. Maybe I could order them online… Are they expensive generally?

Lotus seeds are quite edible and very healthy. In India , we get it very cheap, it costs 1-2 dollars here. Hopefully you should be able to get it from Asian stores or perhaps online
