The delicious combination of fresh strawberries with vanilla shortcake drizzled with chocolate is a sure winner dessert. This winter, serve this delectable dessert platter post-lunch/dinner or after school snacks

You can make vanilla/strawberry/lemon or any other flavored shortcake which tastes best with strawberries

I came across this recipe while browsing through the net , since it was long time , I am not sure from where, but the idea impressed me a lot. I made this with different flavored shortcakes but then I stuck to vanilla as the strawberries that I get around here aren’t so sweet and Vanilla goes best with any fruit so that’s why I have shared Vanilla shortcake recipe here

These kebabs are so beautiful to look at and taste equally delicious. Not just kids, this is one dessert, adults would equally love. You can serve them for kid’s birthday party or after school snacks

*You can drizzle white/dark chocolate sauce on top of these delicious kebabs or even skip it as desired

**I have made vanilla pound cake without using baking powder, you can make this kebabs with shortcake cookies or lemon/ strawberry flavoured shortcake too

***You can use strawberry,blue berry or any fruit which you like and pair it up with the shortcake

Servings : 8

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Caster Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Milk
  • 2 Eggs at room temperature
  • 105g soft unsalted butter
  • 1-1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 20-30 strawberries or as required
  • White/Dark chocolate to drizzle

Steps to prepare

  • Preheat oven to 180 deg cel and line loaf tin
  • In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Keep it aside
  • In a bowl, blend sugar and butter for 5-6 minutes. This is most important step to get shortcake right. Do not reduce or hasten the process
  • Add in eggs one at a time, blend for 30- 40 seconds before adding the next one
  • Blend until well combined, always scrape the sides while blending
  • Add milk, vanilla extract and blend well
  • Gradually add dry ingredients and mix until well combined
  • Pour the prepared batter into prepared loaf pan and level evenly
  • Bake for 22-35 minutes until done
  • Allow to cool for 30 minutes. Demould and cool completely
  • Cut the shortcake into cubes the way you cube paneer/tofu.
  • Chop each strawberries into 2-3 slices
  • On wooden skewers, place first strawberry slice followed by shortcake then strawberry so on
  • Drizzle white or dark chocolate on top generously
  • Serve these lovely delicious kebabs
