Crisp, lightly salty, mildly sweet these refreshing cookies are perfect companion with tea. These are eggless, simple to make and requires fewer ingredients which are easily available in our pantry. These are very commonly found in all local stores in India and its quite refreshing in taste

These cookies hold special place in my memories, as a child, this is one of the most common biscuit/cookies we used to get from our local store. Mom loved these cookies as compared to the sweeter ones so she used to buy it frequently. On the weekends, along with hot cup of tea, we used to have Jeera biscuits along with other sweet biscuits/cakes and a lovely family discussion

I have seen certain recipes containing baking powder and soda however this is not required. You can add them if desired

My son is not big fan of cumin seeds however he loved the taste of the cookies and so yes, now I frequently bake them as I myself am not big fan of sweet cookies. To best enjoy the taste, dip them in cup of hot milk tea and savor the taste

*You can roast cumin seeds before adding for additional flavour

**Use whole wheat flour for healthier cookies

***You can bake these cookies in Idli cooker/Pressure cooker too
